Text | Donald Edward Slater, son of J. W. and Mary L. Slater, was born near Clover Chapel, Illinois, October 4, 1894 and died in Cambridge, Ill. Nov. 27, 1918, aged 24 years, 1 month and 23 days, the cause of his death being due to influenza followed by pneumonia. He had spent his early manhood on a farm near Ulah. On March 26th, 1913, he was united in marriage to Miss Luella Vigor, daughter of Frank and Della Vigor. To this union were born four children, Glen Edward, Bernice Ione, Chester Willard and an infant who preceeded him in death Nov. 10, 1918. He moved to Cambridge last February and became agent for the Illinois Oil Co., of which position he held at the time of his death. Mr. Slater in his business and social relations won many friends who will sympathize with the family in their bereavement. He was honest and a hard worker and was well liked by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, three children, father, mother, one brother and four sisters, Mrs. Millie Reno of Osco, Ill., George H. Slater and Mrs. Myrtle Talbot, Mrs. Mary K. Barman of Cambridge, Ill., Mrs. Mabel Peterson of Geneseo, Ill., and many other relatives and friends. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. The funeral was held from his home Sunday, Dec. 1st, at two o'clock conducted by Rev. L. A. Miller. Interment in Rosedale cemetery. | |
