Text | 19 AUG 2007 Here's the info I have re: TINKER, possible Sister and Parents: There is a Mary Tinker age 14 and Jennet Tinker age 12 in Leyden, Lewis, NY in 1850 Alexander J. Yeomans married Mary E. Tinker b. about 1835 in Lewis County, New York married Alexander J. Yeomans 1852 in New York, probably Lewis or Oneida County Their daughter Emma Yeomans married Alfred E. Billings Their Daughter Jessie Mable Billings married Guy Gettemy You have several pictures of Jessie Mable Billings Gettemy and her children with notes to Aunt Nettie. Mable's maternal grandmother was Mary TINKER b. Lewis County, New York ALEXANDER J. YEOMANS Monmouth Illinois Newspaper Died Nov 25, 1902 A.J.Yeomans, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Kirkwood, He died there Nov 25,1902 with dropsy which he had suffered for several months. He was born in Utica, NY. in 1828 and in 1852 married Miss Mary Tinker. To them were born four children only one of whom, Mrs. A. E. Billings of Kirkwood survived him and his wife. Mr.and Mrs. Yeomans came to where Kirkwood now stands in November of 1853 and has resided there ever since. He was a carpenter by trade and built many of the earlier residences in the village. He was a member of the Methodist Church and his funeral was conducted by the Pastor Rev. J.A. Reason with the burial in Center Grove Cemetery. Notes from Family source: Alexander J. Yeomans married Mary E. Leucker {Possibly Lereker - believe this to be Tinker)}. She was born 20 November 1835 in Lewis County. Her father was Darol Leucker, born in CT;her mother was Matilda Hall, born NYS.She died 28 April 1912 at Kirkwood, ILL. Alexander and Mary moved to Kirkwood, ILL in November of 1853. He was a carpenter and built many of the earlier residences in the village. They had four children only the 4th daughter was alive at the time of Alexander's death. Hope this helps your research L. Yeomans =============== 20 AUG 2007 This [the Leucker/Lerecker reference above] was from someone else's notes and I believe these notes were prior to locating the obit for Mary Tinker's husband. I truly think your Nettie Tinker is the sister of Mary Tinker. Was she from New York? Also the notes state that Mary Tinker's mother was Matilda Hall. This would fit in with the correspondence Nettie received, one of which from a Hall. The obit for Alex J. Yeomans clearly states that his wife was Mary Tinker and I am certain they were in the Oneida County and/or Lewis County area (where I'm originally from). | |
